Gov. Fashola Inaugurates Tribunal Of Inquiry Into Building Collapse

 Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola inaugurated on Monday  Tribunal of Inquiry into various Collapsed Buildings in the state with an appeal to Lagosians to report to the government any building which they suspect to be unsafe or whose structural integrity is in question. Read more...


The seven-member Tribunal, headed by Architect Abimbola Ajayi, has Mr. Joseph Adebowale Adewale, Mrs. Roli Craig, Town Planner Moses Ogunleye, Engineer Olusegun Adedeji and Architect Biodun Rufai as members while Mr. Kehinde David serves as Secretary.
With three months within which to turn in their report, members of the Tribunal are to enquire into the causes of the immediate and recent collapsed buildings in the state, especially those that recently collapsed. They are to look into the quality of building materials and building methods employed in the state generally and with respect to those buildings in particular.
They are also to inspect existing buildings and housing estates in the state, make recommendations on measures to prevent recurrence of building collapse, advise on roles of persons involved in the construction of such collapsed buildings and into the question of whether or not they have acted professionally and if not to recommend appropriate legal sanction and to recommend other measures necessary to prevent further building collapses in the State.
