Man 'Resurrects' From 'Dead' In Zimbabwe



Mourners at a funeral in Gweru of  Zimbabwe got shocked when a "dead" man "resurrected" during an inspection session.
The man, Mr Brighton Dama Zanthe (34) is said to have risen from the dead while his relatives and workmates were inspecting his body which had already been placed in a coffin at Gweru community last week at Mr Zanthe's house in Mkoba Village 14.
The shocking news was all over the community. An eye said I was completely shocked when I first noticed Mr Zanthe's moving legs as I was in the queue to view his body in order to pay my last respect. Senate Wants Achebe Immortalised

The Senate has called on government to give a befitting state funeral to honour Achebe, to promote and showcase excellence and his positive contributions to Nigeria and the world at large. The debate was sponsored by Chris Ngige (ACN Anambra) and 107 other senators on the death of Achebe.
Leading debate on the motion, Senator Ngige noted that Achebe was a world figure and a personality who brought fame and prestige to Nigeria and all humanity through his literary works.
Senate President David Mark, on his part, noted that this was one of the few motions supported by all senators. More after the cut....

Staff of Diamond Bank Protest Against Unfair Treatment

 
Some Diamond Bank Plc staff on Wednesday took to the streets of Lagos to protest against an alleged unfair treatment meted out to them by their employer.
The workers, who came out in their droves at the Victoria Island branch of the bank, were said to have carried placards with such words- "No More Delay of Our Entitlements," and "Diamond Bank Release us from Slavery" among others. Read more....

Obama Fires Head of US Tax Agency Over Scandal

 An angry President Barack Obama sacked the acting head of the US Internal Revenue Service on Wednesday over a fast moving scandal sparked when officials unfairly targeted conservative groups.
Obama said Treasury Secretary Jack Lew had asked for and received the resignation of tax agency chief Steven Miller and promised a new system of checks and safeguards to make sure the episode was not repeated.
"Given the controversy surrounding this audit, it's important to institute new leadership that can help restore confidence going forward," Obama said. Read more after the cut....

Big Brother Africa Present season 8 "The Chase"

 Popular reality TV show, Big Brother Africa, has finally given its fans all over the world a first hint of what its eighth season themed, The Chase, promises.  
The competition which will kick off on Sunday, May 26, 2013 is going to feature 28 new housemates from 14 countries, all competing for a whopping $300,000 and other prizes.
One of Nigeria’s finest On Air Personalities, IK Osakioduwa, who has been a regular host of the show, recently expressed his appreciation as he has been re-invited to be a part of the show once again.

Fulani (Herdsmen) Killed Over 50 in Agatu LGA

 
The herdsmen stormed Okpachanyi village in Agatu local government area of the state and opened fire on the mourners who are about to bury their love ones,  killing at least 50 of them. Others escaped with serious injuries.
Following the development, the state Governor who immediately sent his deputy for an on-the-spot assessment of the area, also had a security meeting with security chiefs in the state to fashion out a lasting solution to the crisis.

Missing Woman Found in Son's Cupbaod Since 2003

The police in Imo have arrested one Chimezie Osuigwe, a retired vice-principal, for the alleged murder of his 78-year-old mother in 2003.
Osuigwe was arrested after the embalmed body of the septuagenarian was discovered in a cupboard at his house by a family member.
According to Mr Musa Katsina, the Commissioner of Police in Imo, the woman, Mrs Lucy Osuigwe, was declared missing since 2003.
Katsina told at the house in Ejemekuru in Oguta Local Government Area on Monday that the embalmed body had been kept in that condition since 2003. Read more.....

Pirates Attack: 10 Boats Ceased in Southern Nigeria

 
Gunmen suspected to be pirates on Monday attacked 10 passenger boats off Nigeria’s Niger Delta Bayelsa State.
The victims were dispossessed of their valuables by the gunmen along the Sagbatoru-Igweta-Iwoama waterways in the southern state’s Nembe Local Government Area.
A passenger, Efe Victory, said the armed men came in three speed boats and rounded up the passenger boats before diverting them to the creeks and began searching the passengers.
A security source said a 26-year-old man was soaked with petrol by the gunmen and was almost set ablaze for failing to hand over his mobile phone.
The incident, which lasted more than one hour, affected guests heading to the burial ceremony of a woman whose son is a politician in the state.


Lagos:LASTMA Saccked 157 Over Misconduct














Further to the gross misconduct bothering in on corruption and indiscipline in LASTMA , the Lagos State Government decided to sacked about 157 its o fficers who are found involving themselves in a act of indecipline and misconduct.
The dismissed LASTMA officers were dragged to the Personnel Management Board, a disciplinary organ of government to prove their innocence but failed to convince the board hence they were sacked. The PMB, satisfied that they were no-longer fit in the service, while the Civil Service Commission issued sacked letters to the affected officers. It was further gathered that the sacked officers also had cases of corruption, certificate forgery, bribery and dereliction of duty leveled against them.
It will be recalled that over 250 LASTMA officers were dismissed last year by the government for gross misconduct, corruption, among others.Read on after the cut...

First Flying Car is Finally Here



The long awaiting flying cra is here. Designer and maker of the first flying cars, Terrafugia has announced that its transition design are set to go on sale to the public as early as 2015.

The automaker said the flying car is in part a sedan and partly a private jet with two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. The car will be on sale in less than two years.

The Massachusetts-based firm has also unveiled plans for a TF-X model that will be small enough to fit in a garage, and won’t need a runway to take off. Continue reading after the cut....

Fake N1000 Notes Disepned by ATM

 
Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) now dispense counterfeit currencies, particularly the N1000 notes, which is the highest denomination in the country.

A drama played out last week in Lagos when a customer who withdrew money from an old generation bank went to another bank few metres away to deposit part of the money in another bank, but was shocked when the cashier told him that some of the N1000 notes were fake. Efforts to explain the source of the money were rebuffed. The cashier and customers in that bank confirmed that the development was not strange but was now becoming rampant. NCC:Scandal Rocks Mobile Number Portability

 
 The newly introduced, 20-day old Mobile Number Portability, MNP, may have run into a scandalous hitch owing to some alleged sharp practices on the part of one of the major operators in the Global System of Mobile Telecommunications, GSM.

NEMA Distributes Relief Material to Bama Victims

 National Emergency Management Agency,NEMA, has started the distribution of relief materials to victims of last week mayhem in Bama, where 55 persons security personnel were killed when the dreaded Boko Haram sect attacked the ancient town.
A Delegation from NEMA headquarters led by the Director of Administration, Dr. Zanna Muhammed was in Bama at the weekend to deliver the relief materials to the victims of the attack on security formations by suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
In a press release by the Northeast Information Officer of the agency, AbdulKadir Ibrahim, the displaced persons, as a result of the attack are now sheltered at the Mobile Police Base in Bama.
Ibrahim revealed that Dr. Mohammed who represented the Director General of the agency was accompanied to the town by NEMA officials from the North-East zonal office.
He said the team leader sympathised with the families of the slain security officials, and was at the palace of the Paramount Traditional Ruler(Shehu) of Bama to empathize with his Royal Highness, Alhaji Kyari Umar Ibn Elkanemi on the unfortunate occurrence which befell the area.

Baby Factory Discovered, 17 Pregnant Teenagers Rescued



The activities of an illegal motherless babies home was uncovered by the police force in Owerri, the Imo State capital. In the course of the  event, the police rescued 17 pregnant teenagers from an illegal motherless babies’ home. The home, Ahamefula Motherless Babies’ Home, located in Umuaka, Njaba Local Government Area of the state, is allegedly owned by a middle-aged woman simply identified as ‘Madam One Thousand’.
 About 11 children were also rescued from the motherless babies home waiting to be sold to their prospective buyers. The 17 pregant teenager are between the age of 14 and 17 year said to be impregnated by Oyibo who is 23-year-ol. More after the cut....

Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Helicopter Crash Landed

The  Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crash landed yesterday at the airbase of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Nigerian Air Force, Port Harcourt, Rivers state.
The incident caused panic as the people within the neighborhood scampered for safety. The Headquarters of NAF said the plane made an emergency landing in Port Harcourt  around 10 am. There was no casualty as all the crew members came out unhurt.

Survivor rescued from Bangladesh building collapse after 17 days


A woman has been pulled alive from the wreckage of the Bangladeshi factory building, 17 days after it collapsed and killed more than a thousand people.
The woman, named locally as Reshma, was found by rescuers among the rubble of the Rana Plaza building after she waved her hand from the basement of the eight story building.Thank God she is still alive. More photos at the scene but viewer discretion advice...

Farouk Lawan and Emenalo:Court Order To Stand Trial For $620,000 Bribery

 



Justice Mudashiru Oniyangi who is the presiding Judge on Friday, rejected the application in favor of the prosecution. ICPC, on the three grounds,the court ruled that it has jurisdiction, as there is evidence of crime against the defendants and that the charges are not an abuse of court process.
Counsel to the lawmakers said he would consult with his clients before deciding on appeal.
The two lawmakers were accused of demanding and collecting $620, 000 bribe from oil mohul; Mr Femi Otedola, to remove the name of his companies  from the list of companies culpable in fuel subsidy fraud.
